Línea 2: Neurociencias Clínica y Experimental

Se divide en varias áreas de interés:

  • Neurodegeneración: envejecimiento cerebral y enfermedades neurodegenerativas (enfermedad de Párkinson y enfermedad de Alzheimer).
  • Neuroinflamación.
  • Estrategias terapéuticas en enfermedades neurodegenerativas.

Cuyos objetivos generales son:

  • Estudiar factores que puedan precipitar, aumentar o bien proteger de la muerte neuronal en la enfermedad de Párkinson (receptor de glucocorticoides, metaloproteinasas, estrés oxidativo).
  • Analizar los fenómenos inflamatorios e inmunológicos intracerebrales como mecanismos de progresión de la muerte neuronal, y como poder frenarlo con tratamientos antiinflamatorios.
  • Tratamiento dirigido a frenar el desarrollo de discinesias, en primates y roedores, y/o como disminuir su intensidad y duración con 7NI (inhibidor de la óxido nítrico sintasa).
  • Predicción de las propiedades fármacos y compuestos que puedan mejorar la capacidad cognitiva y amnésica con el envejecimiento cerebral y en pacientes con enfermedad de Alzheimer.
