The European Foundation for Alcohol Research is anxious to encourage high quality young researchers (under age 35, by the day of the meeting or exchange visit) from the European Union who are undertaking research into the biomedical and psychosocial aspects of consumption of alcoholic drinks.

Aim offering:

• Travel awards for young researchers to attend  and present data at conferences. The maximum awards are €750 for conferences within Europe and €1,500 for conferences outside Europe. A maximum of 6 are awarded per annum.


• Funding for exchange visits for young researchers working in the field of alcohol research to visit centres of excellence. The maximum award is €2,500 and a maximum of 6 are awarded per annum.


• Funding towards printing costs for PhD theses regarding research into the biomedical and psychosocial aspects of consumption of alcoholic drinks. The maximum award is €1,500.

The application deadline is the 23rd April 2018.
